Where used search

Search all BOMS to determine which ones are using specific parts that match part and manufacturer criteria that you specify.

1. Using the toolbar (Meganav), click SEARCH > Where Used Parts Search ()
   OR
   Click Where Used Parts Search () in the left navigation pane.
   You can either create a new search as described below, or use a recent or saved search instead.

2. Type the specifics for the part to search in all BOMs based on the following:

• Internal Part Number.
• Matched Manufacturer Part Number.
• Matched Manufacturer Name - this field supports searching by CAGE codes as well as manufacturer name.
  The type-ahead feature engages as soon as you type a single character.
  When you specify a Matched Manufacturer Name and click Add, an additional box appears below the existing Matched Manufacturer Name box where you may type an additional manufacturer name to match. Each time you click Add, an additional Matched Manufacturer Name box appears below the last box, and you can type up to nine manufacturer names in this way. Click X to the right of a Matched Manufacturer Name box to remove that name from the search.
• Imported Manufacturer Part Number.
• Imported Manufacturer Name.
• The default filter, Exact is automatically applied to criteria you type above. To change this filter to Starts With, click to the right of the attribute to display a drop-down list to the left of the related text box as depicted below. You must also click to search for more than one term.
  Where more than one term is specified for an attribute, the search terms are connected with the OR Boolean operand, so that results that match either of the criteria are returned.
• The Boolean Or is supported. Type OR (in any letter case combination), or type the following ASCII character: | between your search terms. For example, lm339n OR lm311 | lm339n/nopb. You can search for up to 25 part numbers at once.

3. Click Search.

• Click Refine Search Criteria to return to the Search tab where you add or remove filters to change the outcome of the search, and then click Search to the right of the search criteria box. To view the criteria for the search that populated the data grid, hover over View Search Criteria. A popup text box displays a summary of the search criteria.

4. Sort the data grid using the standard BOM Intelligence data grid features.
5. Click hyper-links that appear in the data grid as follows:

• Matched Mfr P/N - display the Part Details modal window for the selected part showing the part's technical attributes.
• Matched Mfr - display the Part Details modal window for the selected part showing the manufacturer details.
• BOM Path - display the BOM Details tab in the View Single BOM window.

Specify a substance name or CAS search criteria to list the BOM path for each location where a substance is used.

   OR
   Click Where Used Substances Search () in the left navigation pane.
   You can either create a new search as described below, or use a recent or saved search instead.
2. Using the search box, type a minimum of three characters from the substance name or CAS to access type-ahead functionality, and then click the desired term in the drop-down list (Shift-click or Ctrl-click for multiple selection).
   Repeat the above step to add additional substances for a total of up to five substances or CAS codes.

3. Select the BOMs within which to search using the display grid, and then click Search, which appears to the right of the search criteria box.
4. Results appear in the display grid. The Internal P/N, Matched P/N, and Matched Mfr columns are locked to maintain context while scrolling the display grid horizontally.

• Click Refine Search Criteria to return to the Search tab where you add or remove filters to change the outcome of the search, and then click Search to the right of the search criteria box. To view the criteria for the search that populated the data grid, hover over View Search Criteria. A popup text box displays a summary of the search criteria.

5. Sort the data grid using the standard BOM Intelligencedata grid features.
6. Click hyper-links that appear in the data grid as follows:

• Matched Mfr P/N - display the Part Details modal window for the selected part showing the part's technical attributes.
• Matched Mfr - display the Part Details modal window for the selected part showing the manufacturer details.
• BOM Path - display the BOM Details tab in the View Single BOM window. For indentured BOMs, the path includes the internal path when the part resides deeper in the BOM.
• Click Clear in the top-right above the grid to clear the BOM selection check box in the left-most column of the data grid.

• To use a recent Where Used Substances Search, using the left navigation pane, click the twisty () to the left of the search type to expand the type of search and see your last five searches, and then click the desired search. Multiple search types can be expanded simultaneously in the left navigation pane. As many characters of the search criteria as possible appear, given the width of the navigation, and the screen resolution. Hover the cursor to display the search criteria. When you click a link to run the query, the query title moves to the top of the RECENT SEARCHES list.
  Click Hide or Unhide to hide or show the left navigation menu into the left side of the page as depicted below.
  
• Alternatively, searches can be saved so that they are not over-written by subsequent searches once the limit of five searches is reached, and so that the searches can be shared with other users in your BOM group. Saved searches can be modified and saved with either a new name, or can overwrite the existing search. In order for you to see another search saved by a user in your BOM group, they must save their search as Shared.
• To select a saved search, click the Recall Searches drop-down list to the top-right of the screen and select the search to use as is, or to modify and use.

1. Using the search results window, select the items to export by clicking the check box in the left-most column of the data grid ().
2. Click Export in the toolbar above the search results.

The Export Part(s) window appears.

3. Select from the following:
• Select which Parts to include in the Export - just the selected parts, which limits the parts to only those you selected. Or all of the parts in the order in which they appear in the search results data grid (maximum 1000).
• Select Export format - XLSX (Microsoft Excel), CSV (Microsoft Excel and other ASCII text-based editors or spreadsheet software), or TXT (Microsoft Excel and other ASCII text-based editors).
4. Click Okay, export these parts.
   The file is saved to your system with the file name, accuris_results.xyz, where xyz is the file format you selected above. The columns and column order exported match your current view, which is configured by selecting one of the pre-defined options from the layout drop-down list: Default Layout; Life Cycle Layout; Environmental Layout; Combined Layout.

Launch the part note modal window when viewing a BOM in the BOM Tree Parts view, or in the View Single BOM: BOM Details tab.

1. Select the part for which to create or edit a part note (), and then click either Add > Add Part Note, or Modify > Edit Part Note. You cannot add a part note to more than one part at a time, and the above options remain inactive.

The Part Note modal window appears.

2. Click Add part notes for details on adding or changing part notes.

• Request Research depending on whether one or multiple rows are selected, either the Single Part Research Request or the Multiple Part Research Request modal windows appear. A maximum of 10 parts rows can be selected. If searching for Where Used Substances, BOM Intelligence automatically selects the maximum number of parts allowed for a research request in the data grid.
• Save Search and specify whether to make the search available to other users in your BOM Intelligence group. Saved searches and your last five searches can be selected using the drop-down lists that appear in the navigation pane in the left side of the current page.

The following search types are available from both the SEARCH menu, and the left navigation menu:

• Parts - part number or keyword. Filter by manufacturer name, part status, compliance, qualification, temperature grade, and whether the search item appears in the CPL.
• Parametric - select related part attribute / value combinations of increasing granularity, which results in searches that only include valid combinations. Use this search when you do not know a specific part number.
• Documents - search for information in the document type and document description fields of manufacturer documents in order to find specific content. Filter by document type and manufacturer name.
• Where Used Parts - specify manufacture and part number search criteria in order to list the path for each location where a given part is used in BOMs.
• Where Used Substances - specify a substance name or CAS search criteria to list the BOM path for each location where a substance is used.
• Manufacturer - find specific manufacturer information in the database, including whether the manufacturer is approved, the total number of parts they provide, whether they include support, and a link to their website. Print or export this data.
• CPL - search for specific CPL keywords in order to find specific content. This option only appears if a CPL is loaded.
• Haystack - search for part and NSNs in the Haystack logistics database. This option only appears if your account is authorized to view Haystack data.

A twisty () appears to the left of the search segment name where a previous search has been done. Click the twisty to display the five most recent searches (from most to least recent), which you can click to automatically load.

If you switch between the different search segments listed above, or navigate away from the Search tab, the search criteria already added is lost. Click Hide to collapse the navigation panel.
