Match manufacturers
BOM Intelligence uncovers differences between BOM data you import and Accuris data during the BOM scrubbing process. BOM Intelligence suggests manufacturer names from its database that may match manufacturer names listed in your imported BOMs. You specify whether to accept each proposed match in order to rationalize the manufacturers listed in your BOM.
In the BOM Tree view, the number of manufacturer exceptions appears in the Mfr Exceptions column in the results grid. Click the hyper-linked number to display the View Single BOM page with the Match Manufacturers tab displayed.
In the View Single BOM page, the volume of manufacturer exceptions are indicated by an orange badge pinned to the top-right of the Match Manufacturers tab as depicted below.
The Match Manufacturers tab displays a data grid where the left-most column includes all of the imported manufacturer names. This column is locked in order to facilitate comparison with the remaining columns in the data grid, which can be scrolled horizontally. The scrollable portion of the data grid displays potential matches for manufacturers that BOM Intelligence compiled from the manufacturer Knowledge base.
Status messages appear in cells of the Matched Manufacturer column as follows:
- No Matches. Try Search ... (highlighted orange) - click to Search for a match by manufacturer name.
- View all ... Suggested Matches (highlighted yellow) - click to display the View ... Suggested Matching Manufacturers modal window, where you select a manufacturer names to associate with the imported manufacturer name.
- The Matched Manufacturer Name - click to display the Manufacturer Information modal window, which provides enough manufacturer details and associated part categories to determine whether the prospect is indeed a match.

- Navigate through multiple pages using the pagination controls that appear below the data grid of results.
- Filter the results using data grid Filter functionality common throughout BOM Intelligence. Filter options in the Match Manufacturer tab are specific to manufacture exceptions.
- Click a hyperlink in the Matched Manufacturer Name column to display the Manufacturer Information modal window where you view manufacturer details. If there is more than one matching manufacturer, the View Suggested Matching Manufacturers modal window appears instead, where you select the manufacturer(s) to match.
Click the column header and then begin typing in the filter box that appears in order to filter the data grid. Type ahead functionality progressively narrows your options as you type so that you can only select from matched manufacturer names that actually appear in the data grid.
Click Okay to close the Manufacturer Information modal window. - Click a hyperlink in the #Parts column to display the BOM Parts modal, where you view BOM parts sorted by Matched Manufacturer Name.

This option is not available if you have unsaved changes.
The Export Match Manufacturers modal window appears.
- Specify the items to include, the file format, and whether the exported file is compressed in order to reduce the overall file size, and then click Okay.
The file is titled IHS_BOMMfrExceptions.xyz, where xyz is the file format you specified above.

- Select the match(es) to accept or ignore in the results data grid by clicking the check box in the left-most column of the data grid (
), and then click either of the following:
- Accept Match - to confirm the suggestion. The affected row(s) is highlighted green. Only manufacturer suggestions that have not already been set with a status of Ignore can be accepted. Select multiple single matches in the View Single BOM results data grid and then click Accept Match to accept multiple suggestions at once.
TIP: Click to enable the Do not ask me this again check box to prevent the Confirm Accepted Matching Manufacturers modal window from appearing in this and future sessions. - Ignore Match - all parts associated with the ignored imported manufacturer name are matched to any manufacturer with a part number that matches exactly. Where there are multiple matches for different manufacturers, the manufacturer with the part that has the best part status is chosen. The affected row is highlighted blue.
Where there is more than one suggested match, click View all ... Suggested Matches to display the View Suggested Matching Manufacturers modal window, where you select one of the suggested manufacturer names.
- Repeat the above step to accept or reject additional matches.
- Save the matches to the Accuris Parts database in order to preserve your changes.

Where BOM Intelligence cannot find potential matches for a given manufacturer name, specify the search criteria of manufacturer names that you would like to associate.
- Select the manufacturer for which to search for a match by clicking the check box (
) in the left-most column of the data grid , and then click Search for Match in the toolbar above the data grid.
You can only search for a match on a single manufacturer at a time.
The Search for Matching Manufacturer(s) modal window appears. The name of the manufacturer that you selected in the Match Manufacturers tab in the previous step populates the Imported Manufacturer Name.
- Type the manufacturer name to associate with the selected manufacturer name in the Enter manufacturer name here... box (BOM Intelligence suggests manufacturer names that match what you type after you type one or more characters).
Matches disappear from the drop-down list when you type terms that do not exist in the database.
Results appear in the data grid below the search box.
- Select the manufacturer name that matches the desired manufacturer (you can only select one match), and then click Yes, use this Matching Manufacturer.
The match is made and you are returned to the Match Manufacturers tab. The row that displays the matched manufacturer name is highlighted green.

Matches you make are not saved until you explicitly click Save Changes. Either save the matches, or save the matches and automatically reprocess the BOM.
Click Undo in the top-right above the View Single BOM data grid to abandon your changes, provided that you have not yet saved the changes to the Accuris Parts database by clicking Save Changes above the results data grid .
- Click Save Changes.
The Save Changes for Matching Manufacturer(s) modal window appears. Accepted matches and ignored matches appear on two separate tabs in the modal window.
- Select the Accepted Matches and Ignored Matches, and then click one of the following:
- Yes. Confirm all changes and Do Not Reprocess BOM - the accepted and ignored matches are saved to either the list or the Global Knowledge base (or both) depending on your configuration. You might choose not to reprocess the BOM if you will be making additional changes that necessitate reprocessing the BOM.
- Yes. Confirm all changes and Reprocess BOM - the accepted and ignored matches are saved to either the list or the Global Knowledge base (or both) depending on your configuration. You might choose to reprocess the BOM immediately if you are not going to make any more changes.
- Stop! Go back to the list - abandon the current process and return to the previous page.

Create a research request directly from the data grid while reviewing the Match Manufacturers tab.

), the Research Request button is active.
- Click Research Request to display either the Submit a Research Request for One Manufacturer, or ...for Multiple Manufacturers -depending on whether you selected one or more rows in the data grid.
The Imported Manufacturer Name and other details automatically populate the Submit a Research Request for... modal window.
- Submit the research request using the standard procedure.
