- Using the data grid, click the check box next to the part search records to compare (
). Select a minimum of two and a maximum of 10 records for comparison.
- Click Compare Selected.

The Compare ... Parts modal window opens, and the part attributes for the selected records are displayed in a data grid. In the data grid, the attribute labels are the left-most column, followed by the first row you select in the results data grid, which is used as the baseline for comparison. The check box for the baseline part is selected in the data grid and its column header is highlighted.
Attributes that differ from the baseline are also highlighted.
If comparing three or more parts, select the records and click Remove to delete them from the comparison data grid.

BOM Intelligence displays a up to ten potentially matching parts that you export. Differences between the parts attributes are highlighted in the spreadsheet.

The parts details are saved to your browser's default download location in Microsoft Excel format. The file is named ihs_compareXLS.

The Compare modal window includes a locked portion where the first two left-most columns include the attributes and the first part row selected in the search results data grid, respectively. The scrolling portion includes the remaining rows selected in the search results data grid. The first two columns are locked in order to facilitate comparison with the remaining columns in the data grid, however, you can specify that a different part column replace the existing part column that appears in the fixed area by selecting the check box in the header of the desired column, and then clicking Set as Anchor. Multiple columns cannot be fixed simultaneously.
To change the column locked for comparison:
- Click to place a check mark in a column header to display that column in the scrolling portion of the data grid.
- Click Set as Anchor.
The check marked column replaces the previous default column as the fixed column.
- With the check box in the column header of the desired part selected, click Use Selected, and then click Close and return to Search for Matching Part.

Add selected records from the comparison data grid to your workspace.
- Click to place a check mark in the column header of the part(s) to save, and then click Save Selected to My Workspace.
